The molecular sieve core is the consumable heart of a filter drier and directly determines system drying capacity. Kilterra molecular sieve uses 3A/4A zeolite with precise pore size and strong water adsorption, paired with high-precision filter mesh for continuous, reliable drying protection.
How a molecular sieve works
Molecular sieve has uniform micropores that selectively adsorb water molecules by size, making it ideal for refrigerant drying.
Selecting the right molecular sieve
Consider adsorption capacity, particle size and activation; Kilterra XH-type sieves deliver stable performance for refrigeration systems.
How It Works
3A molecular sieve has a pore size of about 3 angstroms: only water molecules pass through and are adsorbed, while refrigerant and lubricant molecules are kept out - selective adsorption. 4A has larger pores and can also pick up some contaminants. Adsorption is physical: water is locked inside the crystal cage and keeps working until saturated.
Key Applications
- Commercial refrigeration and air conditioning
- Automotive air conditioning
- Heat pump systems
- Cold-chain transport and refrigeration
- Ice makers
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can a molecular sieve core be reused? - No. Once saturated it must be replaced; regeneration costs more than a new core.
- What is the difference between 3A and 4A? - Pore size: 3A adsorbs water only (more professional), 4A also picks up some debris.
- How often should the core be replaced? - Same as the filter drier: 2-3 years or after major repair.
- How should cores be stored? - Sealed and dry; use promptly after opening.
For 37 years Kilterra has focused on one thing: build refrigeration components right, deliver them on time. Molecular Sieve Core supports OEM/ODM customization - factory visits, sample testing and volume partnerships are welcome.
